What is the underlying investment?

Government bonds are loans to public issuers. Europe has multiple sovereign borrowers, with different credit profiles, maturities, and repayment terms. A euro denomination tells you the currency of a security, not which government owes the money.

Etherfuse describes EUROB as exposure to European government bonds in euros. Review its current portfolio and product documents rather than assuming it holds one particular country’s debt or every European bond. EUROB is an investment token; it is different from a euro stablecoin intended to track one euro.

Why access can take extra steps

Buying a foreign bond directly can involve a brokerage that offers the specific issue, an eligible account, euro funding, and decisions about maturity and order size. The steps depend on the country, broker, and security. There is no single universal retail account for every European government bond.

For someone already managing money in a wallet, a token can simplify holding and transferring this exposure. Lex supports EUROB holdings alongside your currencies and other supported investments.

What Etherfuse adds

Etherfuse creates Stablebonds backed by government debt. The token provides economic exposure to the backing assets under the issuer’s terms; Etherfuse handles the underlying investment and custody arrangements. Lex is the app where you manage the supported token in your self-custodial wallet.

Self-custody means you control the wallet holding the token. The underlying securities still rely on Etherfuse and its custodians. Read the product documents, reserve information, eligibility rules, and redemption terms before investing. A token transfer, a market sale, and redemption with the issuer are different operations.

How value works

The token’s value reflects the underlying portfolio and accrued returns, rather than a fixed one-unit currency peg. Rates and portfolio values change. A market quote may differ from the issuer’s net asset value (NAV), and a yield shown today is not a guaranteed future return.

What to consider

Consider sovereign credit, interest rates, currency movements, issuer and custodian performance, smart contracts, and available trading liquidity. Selling can realize a loss, and fees and taxes reduce the amount you keep. This is an investment, not an insured bank deposit. Verify the network and contract shown on this page before transferring tokens; the same symbol on another network is not interchangeable.

An example to think through

Imagine that you live in Argentina and are saving for future euro expenses. EUROB would add investment exposure as well as currency exposure. Its euro value can change, and its value in pesos or dollars also depends on exchange rates. Compare that with holding a euro stablecoin, which has a different purpose and risk profile; neither should be treated as a guaranteed future spending balance.
